The Transport Incharge will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely operation of the school's transportation system. The role involves managing school buses, drivers, attendants, routes, student pickup/drop schedules, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, and coordination with parents, staff, and transport vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the school's daily bus transportation operations for students and staff.
- Plan and monitor bus routes, stops, timings, and vehicle deployment.
- Ensure students are picked up and dropped off safely and on time.
- Supervise school bus drivers, attendants, and transport staff.
- Maintain daily attendance and records of students using school transport.
- Ensure proper student supervision during boarding, travel, and drop-off.
- Coordinate with parents regarding transport-related queries, route changes, delays, and complaints.
- Monitor buses through GPS/CCTV or other transport monitoring systems.
- Ensure all buses are clean, roadworthy, and properly maintained.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, servicing, repairs, and emergency breakdown support.
- Maintain records of vehicle fitness, insurance, permits, pollution certificates, licenses, and other required documents.
- Ensure drivers and attendants comply with school safety policies and applicable transportation regulations.
- Conduct regular checks of drivers, attendants, buses, first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and safety equipment.
- Handle transport emergencies, accidents, breakdowns, and other unforeseen situations promptly.
- Coordinate with the school security team and administration during arrival and dispersal times.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly transport reports and MIS.
- Monitor transport vendor performance and verify trip sheets and bills where applicable.
- Arrange substitute buses/drivers in case of absence or vehicle breakdown.
- Conduct regular briefings/training for drivers and attendants on student safety and emergency procedures.
- Ensure no unauthorized person boards a school bus.
- Maintain proper records of complaints, incidents, inspections, maintenance, and corrective actions.
- Support the school during examinations, events, field trips, and other special transportation requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate preferred; diploma/certification in transport, logistics, administration, or a related field is an advantage.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a school or educational institution.
- Good knowledge of Gurugram and Delhi-NCR routes.
- Strong knowledge of school bus safety and student transportation procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage drivers, attendants, vendors, students, and parents professionally.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel, email, GPS, and transport management systems.
- Strong problem-solving and emergency-management skills.
- Ability to work early mornings and during school dispersal hours.
- Responsible, disciplined, alert, and safety-focused.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
