Key Responsibilities
Patient Care Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and procedure details before the procedure.
- Prepare patients for Cath Lab procedures.
- Obtain and verify informed consent.
- Assess patient condition and report abnormalities.
- Monitor vital signs and patient status.
- Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure patient education.
Scrub Nurse Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure.
- Arrange and check all instruments, catheters, guidewires, balloons, stents and consumables.
- Assist the cardiologist during procedures.
- Anticipate procedural requirements and provide instruments promptly.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique.
- Count and document consumables used during procedures.
- Ensure availability of emergency equipment and crash cart.
Equipment Management
- Check functionality of Cath Lab equipment before procedures.
- Ensure availability of sterile supplies and consumables.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance with Biomedical Engineering.
Documentation Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate nursing records.
- Document procedure details and consumables used.
- Record patient observations and interventions.
- Complete all Cath Lab registers and forms.
Infection Prevention & Control
- Adhere to hand hygiene protocols.
- Follow standard precautions.
- Use appropriate PPE.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation.
- Participate in infection surveillance activities.
Qualification : BSC / GNM
Experience : 1yr - 2yr scrub nurse experience.
