- Therapy Application: Measure wound dimensions, prepare the wound bed, and meticulously apply sterile foams, drapes, and vacuum pumps as directed.
- Pressure Management: Program and monitor the NPWT machine (e.g., Solventum) to maintain consistent suction and fluid removal.
- Patient Monitoring: Inspect wound sites regularly for granulation progress, signs of infection, or adverse reactions, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Dressing Changes: Remove old dressings, safely clean the wound bed using sterile techniques, and apply new vacuum units on a scheduled rotation (typically every 48 to 72 hours).
- Patient Education: Train patients and family members on managing and troubleshooting the portable VAC equipment at home.
- Documentation: Record accurate details of wound drainage, healing milestones, and equipment settings in patient files for continuity of care and insurance reimbursement. [
