Job Summary
A Staff Nurse is a registered professional who delivers high-quality, direct bedside clinical care. They assess patient needs, execute physician orders, manage treatments, and coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Patient Care
- Assess health conditions and review medical histories.
- Monitor vital signs like blood pressure and heart rate.
- Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) infusions.
- Perform wound care, dress wounds, and initiate treatments.
- Provide emergency care and perform basic life-saving steps.
- Assist physicians during clinical examinations and procedures.
Operations & Documentation
- Maintain meticulous records of all clinical interventions.
- Update patient charts with accuracy and high specificity.
- Manage admission, transfer, and discharge procedures safely.
- Prepare medical equipment and ensure a sterile environment.
- Hand over reports clearly at shift changes.
Advocacy & Support
- Educate patients regarding disease prevention and health maintenance.
- Explain treatment plans to family members clearly.
- Provide emotional support to patients during recovery.
- Supervise nursing aides and junior nursing students.
Skills & Qualifications Requirements
- Nursing Degree or Diploma (B.Sc Nursing, GNM, or equivalent).
- Valid registration with the nursing board or council.
- Clinical experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
