About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Sr. PD Merchant – Denim to manage the end-to-end product development process for denim garments. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in denim fabrics, garment construction, washes, finishes, and sample development while coordinating effectively with buyers and cross-functional teams to deliver products on time and within cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete product development lifecycle for denim garments from buyer enquiry to production handover.
- Review tech packs, specifications, and buyer requirements.
- Coordinate with buyers, sourcing, sampling, pattern, CAD, washing, QA, and production teams.
- Handle the development of proto, fit, PP, size-set, salesman, and pre-production samples.
- Coordinate fabric, trims, wash developments, lab dips, and approvals.
- Work closely with wash houses to develop and finalize denim washes and finishes as per buyer requirements.
- Prepare preliminary costing and support product feasibility and cost optimization.
- Track development timelines and ensure on-time sample submissions.
- Maintain regular communication with buyers regarding sample status, approvals, and modifications.
- Maintain development trackers, BOMs, and product documentation.
- Ensure a seamless handover of approved styles to the production merchandising team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Fashion Technology, Apparel Production, Textile Technology, Fashion Design, or a related discipline.
- 4–8 years of experience in Product Development/Merchandising with a strong focus on denim garments.
- Sound knowledge of denim fabrics, garment construction, washing techniques, finishes, and trims.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
