Job Title: Design & Estimation EngineerRole Overview
The Design & Estimation Engineer will drive end-to-end technical solutioning, cost estimation, and proposal development for engineering projects. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with sales, operations, and procurement teams to ensure commercially viable and technically optimized solutions.
Key Responsibilities1. Design & Engineering
- Develop system designs, layouts, and technical drawings based on project requirements.
- Prepare detailed engineering documentation including schematics, GA drawings, and system architecture.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Optimize designs for cost efficiency, scalability, and performance.
2. Estimation & Costing
- Prepare accurate BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and cost estimates for projects.
- Analyze RFQs/RFPs and develop techno-commercial proposals.
- Conduct cost benchmarking and value engineering to improve margins.
- Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for pricing, technical specifications, and lead times.
3. Proposal & Tendering
- Prepare detailed proposals including technical submissions, compliance sheets, and commercial bids.
- Support bid management activities including clarifications, negotiations, and revisions.
- Ensure timely submission of tenders with complete documentation.
4. Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand client requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Liaise with project execution teams for design validation and handover.
- Engage with vendors and suppliers for technical alignment and cost optimization.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain estimation database, costing sheets, and project documentation.
- Track project costs vs estimated budgets and highlight deviations.
- Generate MIS reports for management review.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of engineering systems (CCTV, Fire Alarm, Access Control, Networking preferred).
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and cost estimation skills.
- Knowledge of tendering processes and contract documentation.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in design and estimation (relevant industry preferred).
