Job Title: Entrepreneur in Residence(EIR) - GTM

Scaler School of Technology is being built to answer a simple but uncomfortable question:
Why does India still not have a globally respected, industry-built engineering university?
SST’s ambition is not incremental improvement. It is to build a fundamentally better model of engineering education:
- Designed with industry, not detached from it
- Measured by real outcomes, not just credentials
- Built for students who could go to IITs, BITS, NITs – but want something better aligned with the real world
We are early in this journey. Very early.
Today, ~21,000 students apply to SST.
Tomorrow, that number needs to cross 1 lakh+, without diluting quality or trust.
This role exists because that leap will not be achieved by marketing alone.
It will be achieved by deep insight, honest conversations, rapid iteration, and sharp GTM thinking.
This is not a typical “growth” or “strategy” role.
This is not a safe, well-defined execution track.
This is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence role inside a high-stakes institution-building journey.
As an EiR, you will:
- Operate at the frontline of decision-making for India’s most serious students and parents
- Extract first-principles insight from real conversations and convert them into GTM and product decisions
- Shape how SST communicates, positions, and evolves as an institution
- Drive and support critical GTM initiatives that move application quality, conversion, and trust
- Over time, take ownership of launching new programs and initiatives as SST expands
- Work closely with leadership on institution-building problems with no predefined playbook
This role is also deliberately designed for people who want to build something of their own in the future. You will learn how to identify user pain points, test hypotheses, understand P&L & most importantly, learn to make good decisions with incomplete information
This is a problem-statement-driven role.
Your work will not be defined by a fixed set of responsibilities.
It will be defined by the most important problems SST needs solved at any point in time to reach its mission.
You will be assigned high-leverage problem statements and given the autonomy to do whatever is required to solve them.
Examples of the kinds of problem statements you will own:
- How do we attract & convert the best student talent?
- Owning Admissions end-to-end for premium student talent
- Where exactly does trust get built or lost in a parent’s decision journey – and how do we redesign for it?
- What narratives, formats, or experiences create clarity instead of confusion at scale?
- How do we move from 21,000 applications to 1 lakh+ applications without diluting quality or credibility?
- What new programs, formats, or institutional signals do we need to launch to unlock the next phase of growth?
There is no predefined path.
You will help create it.
- SST’s messaging becomes sharper, calmer, and more credible
- Parents feel informed, not pressured
- Leadership decisions are grounded in real insight, not anecdotes
- The system gets better every cycle because of what you surfaced
- 1–3 years of experience in:
- Founder’s office
- Strategy or Consulting
- Early-stage GTM
Traits That Matter More Than a Resume
- Exceptional at problem-solving
- Ability to structure thinking live, in conversations
- Passionate about improving communication skills
- Intellectual honesty. You can say “this doesn’t make sense” when it doesn’t
- Comfort with ambiguity and incomplete information
- High personal standards, discipline, and follow-through
- Coachable, but not passive
If you need tight briefs, fixed playbooks, or predictable outcomes, this role will feel uncomfortable.
This EiR role is a launchpad, not a terminal position.
For founders-in-the-making, this role offers a rare apprenticeship:
- Exposure to zero-to-one institution building, not just execution
- Direct visibility into how large, complex bets are evaluated and sequenced
- Pattern recognition across hundreds of high-stakes decisions made by families, students, and leaders
