Project description

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer - Automation Specialist to join our engineering team responsible for building and operating a modern API and microservices platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in API test automation using Java and RestAssured, with a deep understanding of RESTful services, cloud-native architectures, and automated quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

You will work closely with software engineers, architects, product teams, and DevOps engineers to ensure the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of our API ecosystem.

Primary Technology Stack: Java, RestAssured, REST APIs, Microservices, Kubernetes, Cloud Technologies

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for APIs and microservices.

Create and execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end automated tests.

Validate REST APIs, HTTP protocols, request/response contracts, and error-handling scenarios.

Collaborate with development teams to embed quality engineering best practices throughout the SDLC.

Support testing activities in cloud-native and containerized environments.

Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and drive automation-first quality practices.

Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot defects across distributed systems and microservices.

Report test results, quality metrics, and continuous improvement opportunities.

Work closely with software engineers, architects, product teams, and DevOps engineers to ensure the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of the API ecosystem.

Must have

Experience min 6+ years

Technical Skills

Strong hands-on experience with Java and RestAssured.

Solid understanding of:

REST APIs

Microservices architecture

HTTP protocols and status codes

API testing methodologies

Experience testing cloud-native applications and services.

Hands-on experience with:

Docker

Git

Experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks.

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Experience working within Agile delivery teams.

Core Competencies

Quality-first mindset with strong attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively across engineering, DevOps, and product teams.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience testing high-volume, enterprise-scale API platforms.

Understanding of performance, scalability, and resilience testing.

Familiarity with DevSecOps and shift-left testing practices.

Experience working in highly distributed, cloud-native environments.

High automated test coverage across API and microservices layers.

Reduced regression defects through automation.

Improved release quality and deployment confidence.

Early identification of quality risks within the development lifecycle.

Nice to have

Experience with Java 17 / Java 2

Experience testing event-driven architectures using Kafka.

Experience with AWS or other public cloud platforms.

Exposure to Kubernetes ecosystem tooling such as:

ArgoCD, GitLab CI/CD, Tyk API Gateway

Knowledge of API security standards:

OAuth 2.0, JWT

Experience working with API documentation and contract standards:

Swagger, OpenAPI Specification (OAS)
