Objective: To ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant working environment at the IWM site by implementing effective EHS systems, ensuring adherence to statutory and organizational safety standards, minimizing workplace risks, preventing accidents and environmental incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture through continuous monitoring, training, and improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Environment, Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, EHS laws, State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) norms and other statutory requirements
- Implement and monitor ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards at site
- Maintain all EHS-related licenses, approvals, and renewals Safety Management
- Conduct Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Ensure implementation of safe work practices, SOPs, and work permits
- Monitor contractor safety and ensure PPE compliance on shop floor
- Investigate near misses, accidents, and incidents and implement corrective actions
Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction training for employees, contractors, and visitors
- Organize regular toolbox talks, mock drills, and safety campaigns
- Promote safety culture and behavioral safety practices
Environmental Management
- Monitor waste management, effluent treatment, air & water monitoring
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous & non-hazardous waste
- Coordinate with authorized vendors for waste disposal
Fire & Emergency Management
- Ensure availability and maintenance of firefighting systems and equipment
- Conduct emergency preparedness plans and mock drills
- Coordinate with local authorities during emergencies
Audits & Reporting
- Conduct internal EHS audits and support external audits
- Maintain EHS MIS reports, dashboards, and monthly compliance status
- Close audit observations within defined timelines
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma / BE / BTech in Engineering (Mechanical / Chemical / Environmental preferred)
- NEBOSH / ADIS / Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory or preferred)
- 2–6 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing / industrial setup
- Experience at plant / site level preferred
