Job Summary
Utkarsh Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) to lead and manage IPD (In-Patient Department) and OPD (Out-Patient Department) operations. The ideal candidate will drive clinical excellence, oversee veterinary teams, ensure superior patient outcomes, and support smooth hospital functioning through strong leadership and operational management.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership
- Oversee diagnosis, treatment plans, and surgical procedures across IPD and OPD departments.
- Ensure high standards of veterinary care, clinical governance, and animal welfare practices.
- Manage critical and emergency cases and provide guidance to junior veterinarians.
- Monitor treatment outcomes and ensure quality patient care delivery.
Department Management
- Lead and supervise veterinary doctors, interns, nurses, and support staff.
- Plan duty rosters and ensure seamless round-the-clock patient coverage.
- Monitor case documentation, treatment adherence, and recovery progress.
- Drive coordination between clinical and operational teams.
Operations & Quality Control
- Establish and maintain SOPs, hygiene standards, safety procedures, and hospital protocols.
- Coordinate with administration and operations teams for medical supplies and equipment availability.
- Improve patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and workflow management.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary and hospital standards.
Training & Mentorship
- Train and mentor junior veterinarians and clinical teams.
- Conduct clinical audits, reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Support professional development and continuous learning initiatives.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with animal welfare teams, rescue organizations, and hospital management.
- Support large-scale treatment programs and emergency response initiatives.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to enhance service delivery.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Veterinary Science (BVSc / MVSc) – Mandatory.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on clinical veterinary experience.
- Strong experience managing hospital-based IPD and OPD operations.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Experience in veterinary surgery, emergency care, and critical case handling preferred.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for animal welfare and ethical veterinary practice.
