HR MANAGER – JOB DESCRIPTION
Company: Mind Media Entertainment
Location: Chennai
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Human Resources
Role: HR Manager
About Mind Media Entertainment
Mind Media Entertainment is a fast-growing social-media-first video production company working across content strategy, pre-production, production, post-production, and client servicing.
As the company continues to scale its team and operations, we are looking for an HR Manager who can take complete ownership of the people function — from hiring and onboarding to performance management, policies, discipline, employee development, and retention.
This is not an HR coordination role. We are looking for someone who can build systems, make decisions, solve people problems, and independently run the HR department.
Key Responsibilities1. Recruitment & Workforce Planning
- Understand manpower requirements across departments.
- Work closely with department heads to define hiring requirements and JDs.
- Own the recruitment pipeline from sourcing to final closure.
- Ensure positions are filled within agreed timelines.
- Build structured interview and assessment processes for different roles.
- Maintain a strong candidate pipeline for frequently hired positions.
- Track recruitment metrics including time-to-hire, offer acceptance and joining ratio.
- Coordinate manpower planning based on company growth and workload.
2. Performance Management
- Build and maintain structured KPA/KPI systems across departments.
- Ensure managers conduct periodic performance reviews.
- Track employee performance, productivity and accountability.
- Identify underperformance early and initiate corrective action.
- Manage PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) processes.
- Ensure performance decisions are supported by proper documentation and data.
- Work with department heads to identify high performers and employees requiring development.
3. Employee Relations & People Management
- Act as the primary HR point of contact for employees and department heads.
- Handle employee concerns, conflicts and grievances professionally.
- Conduct investigations where necessary and maintain proper documentation.
- Ensure issues are resolved at the appropriate management level instead of unnecessary escalation.
- Conduct regular employee check-ins and understand team-level concerns.
- Maintain a healthy balance between employee welfare and organizational accountability.
4. Policies, Attendance & Discipline
- Own implementation and enforcement of company HR policies.
- Monitor attendance, leave, permissions, late arrivals and working-hour compliance.
- Ensure policies are applied consistently across departments.
- Handle repeated disciplinary or behavioural issues.
- Issue warnings, show-cause notices and other formal communication when required.
- Periodically review HR policies and recommend improvements to management.
5. Onboarding, Probation & Exit
- Build and manage a structured employee onboarding process.
- Ensure every new employee receives proper company and departmental induction.
- Track probation periods and ensure confirmation reviews happen on time.
- Coordinate confirmation, extension or separation decisions with reporting managers.
- Manage resignations, terminations and employee exits professionally.
- Conduct exit interviews and identify recurring reasons for attrition.
- Ensure complete handover, access removal and exit documentation.
6. Employee Development & Retention
- Identify skill and competency gaps with department heads.
- Coordinate training and development requirements.
- Build development plans for employees with growth potential.
- Track employee retention and department-wise attrition.
- Identify root causes behind repeated attrition or people-related problems.
- Recommend practical interventions to management.
7. HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.
- Ensure offer letters, appointment letters, confirmation letters and other HR documentation are properly maintained.
- Coordinate payroll inputs including attendance, leave, deductions and salary revisions.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and compensation information.
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable labour and employment requirements.
- Maintain organized digital HR records and trackers.
8. HR Reporting & Management Insights
Provide management with clear HR visibility through regular reporting on:
- Total headcount and department-wise manpower
- Open positions and recruitment status
- New joiners and exits
- Attendance and leave trends
- Attrition and retention
- Probation status
- PIP and performance concerns
- Employee grievances and disciplinary cases
- Hiring bottlenecks
- Key people risks requiring management attention
The HR Manager should not simply report problems — they should identify the root cause, recommend a solution and drive the action to closure.
What We Expect
The HR Manager must demonstrate:
Ownership
Able to independently own HR outcomes rather than waiting for management instructions.
Speed & Execution
Able to identify problems, make decisions and close actions quickly.
People Judgment
Strong ability to assess performance, behaviour, attitude and organizational fit.
Communication
Confident in handling difficult conversations with employees and managers.
Problem Solving
Able to understand the actual reason behind people and process problems and propose practical solutions.
Policy Enforcement
Able to maintain discipline without being unnecessarily rigid or inconsistent.
Organization
Strong documentation, follow-up and tracking ability.
Management Partnership
Able to work with department heads and management while maintaining professional HR judgment.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience: 4–8 years in HR, preferably with experience independently managing an HR function.
- Previous experience as an HR Manager, HR Generalist, HRBP or similar ownership role preferred.

- Strong experience in recruitment, employee relations and performance management.
- Practical knowledge of HR policies, labour compliance and documentation.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets and HR reporting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Comfortable handling difficult conversations and making people-related decisions.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
