Job Summary
The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other laboratory specimens safely and accurately while ensuring patient comfort, proper specimen handling, and adherence to quality and infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples using venipuncture and capillary techniques as per standard protocols.
- Perform sample collection for patients of all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Verify patient identity and ensure correct test requisition before specimen collection.
- Label specimens accurately and ensure proper documentation.
- Follow specimen collection, handling, storage, and transportation procedures.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and comply with infection prevention and biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions during or after sample collection.
- Prepare collection materials and ensure adequate stock of consumables.
- Coordinate with the laboratory team to ensure timely processing of samples.
- Perform home sample collection as assigned while maintaining professional conduct.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the phlebotomy area.
- Ensure proper maintenance of sample collection registers and documentation.
- Educate patients regarding fasting, test preparation, and post-collection care when required.
- Follow NABL quality standards, SOPs, and organizational policies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and provide courteous customer service.
- Report collection-related incidents, sample rejections, or equipment issues to the supervisor.
Qualification
- DMLT / B.Sc. MLT or equivalent qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Experience
- Freshers or experienced candidates may apply.
- Experience in diagnostic laboratories and home sample collection is preferred.
Skills Required
- Excellent venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory specimen handling and transportation.
- Good communication and patient counselling skills.
- Ability to handle difficult veins and anxious patients with empathy.
- Basic computer knowledge for registration and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.

Pay: From ₹16,000.00 per month
