Job Description
We're looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Chennai, India. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical infrastructure for data center projects. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, compliant, and innovative electrical solutions that meet the demanding requirements of modern data center operations.

Design electrical distribution systems, power management infrastructure, and backup power solutions for data center facilities

Develop single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and detailed design documentation using industry-standard CAD software

Perform load calculations, power flow analysis, and thermal modeling to optimize electrical system performance and efficiency

Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards (NFPA 70, IEC), and data center industry best practices

Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and IT teams to integrate electrical systems with cooling, structural, and operational requirements

Evaluate and select electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and distribution panels

Conduct design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve system reliability and cost-effectiveness

Prepare technical specifications, bills of materials, and project documentation for procurement and construction phases

Support commissioning activities, testing procedures, and troubleshooting of electrical systems

Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in data center electrical design and energy efficiency
Qualifications
-
3+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a focus on data center or critical infrastructure projects

Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, or equivalent tools

Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, UPS technology, and backup power generation

Familiarity with data center electrical standards, codes, and design guidelines

Demonstrated ability to perform load calculations, power flow analysis, and electrical system modeling

Experience developing single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical documentation

Understanding of cooling systems and thermal management in data center environments

Knowledge of energy efficiency optimization and sustainable design practices (preferred)

Experience with renewable energy integration or backup power systems (preferred)

Familiarity with commissioning and testing procedures for electrical systems (preferred)

Strong communication skills and ability to present technical information clearly
