Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to coordinate and manage the transportation of freight between shippers and carriers. The Freight Broker will act as a key liaison, negotiating rates, securing capacity, and ensuring shipments are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires strong sales skills, logistics knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Source and secure freight from shippers while building long-term customer relationships
* Negotiate competitive rates with both shippers and carriers
* Coordinate shipment details including pickup, delivery, and special handling requirements
* Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or issues
* Maintain accurate records of loads, rates, and carrier compliance
* Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and industry regulations
* Communicate clearly and consistently with customers, carriers, and internal teams
* Monitor market trends to maximise profitability and service quality
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
* Previous experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation preferred
* Strong negotiation, sales, and relationship-building skills
* Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
