Job Summary
X-Gen College of Visual Art is seeking an academically focused Sculpture Instructor to lead our theoretical curriculum. This role is dedicated exclusively to delivering lecture-based classes, focusing on the history of sculpture, structural principles, and the academic foundations of the discipline. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that students understand the conceptual and technical evolution of sculpture through structured classroom learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Theory Training: Deliver comprehensive classroom lectures on Sculpture and Form Analysis.
- Material Theory: Teach students about the properties and history of materials like clay, wood, stone, metal, and fiber
- Conceptual Guidance: Guide students through the theoretical Sculpture pipeline, from conceptual sketching to the logic of casting and finishing.
- Portfolio Research: Guide the development of professional portfolios through research-based project support.
- Academic Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments, written assignments, and performance evaluations.
- Industry Standards: Incorporate modern sculptural trends and industry-standard practices into training modules.
Core Competencies & Required Knowledge
- Anatomical Knowledge: Deep understanding of human and animal anatomy for realistic figurative sculpture.
- Material Science: Mastery of the history and application of media, including Terracotta, Plaster of Paris (POP)
- Structural Integrity: Knowledge of armature building and the physics of balance and scale in 3D forms.
- Visual Identity: Understanding of how sculpture integrates with branding, public installations, and spatial design.
- Technical Detail: High level of creative thinking with strong attention to academic and technical detail.
Pedagogical & Soft Skills (Theory Focus)
- Visual Presentation: Ability to create and use high-quality visual aids (slides/videos) to explain physical processes in a lecture format.
- Interactive Lecturing: Skill in engaging students through discussion and critical analysis of sculptural works.
- Clear Communication: Ability to break down complex technical jargon into simple, digestible concepts for students.
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Bachelor’s in Fine Art (BVA/MVA/BFA/MFA) (Specialisation in Sculpture)
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of industry or teaching experience is preferred.
- Freshers: Freshers with exceptional subject knowledge and strong presentation abilities are also encouraged to apply.
