Job Title: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer – L3
Role Overview
The L3 Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments. This role focuses on resolving complex cloud and networking issues, deploying new OCI solutions, and ensuring secure, scalable, resilient, and highly available cloud platforms.
As a technical leader, the engineer will provide guidance to L1 and L2 support teams, drive automation and operational excellence, and collaborate closely with architects, security teams, application teams, and customers to deliver reliable, business-aligned cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex OCI platform and cloud networking issues within enterprise environments.
- Design and implement enterprise cloud networking solutions using OCI networking services.
- Manage and optimize OCI networking components, including:
- Virtual Cloud Networks (VCN)
- Dynamic Routing Gateway (DRG)
- FastConnect
- IPSec VPN
- Load Balancers
- DNS
- Network Security Groups (NSG)
- Security Lists
- Implement and maintain OCI security and governance best practices, including:
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Cloud Guard
- Security Zones
- Compliance and governance frameworks
- Lead cloud migration, modernization, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and automation tools.
- Create automation scripts and implement DevOps best practices to streamline cloud provisioning and operations.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA), problem management, and continuous service improvement activities.
- Monitor, tune, and optimize cloud performance, capacity, availability, disaster recovery, backup, and cost management.
- Ensure cloud environments meet organizational security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to L1/L2 engineers.
- Develop operational documentation, implementation guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, security teams, application teams, vendors, and customers to deliver cloud solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Participate in incident management, change management, and major incident resolution.
Required Experience
- Strong experience troubleshooting and resolving complex Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and cloud networking issues in enterprise environments.
- Proven experience designing and implementing secure, scalable, and highly available OCI architectures.
- Extensive hands-on experience with OCI networking services, including:
- Virtual Cloud Network (VCN)
- Dynamic Routing Gateway (DRG)
- FastConnect
- IPSec VPN
- Load Balancers
- DNS
- Route Tables
- Network Security Groups (NSG)
- Security Lists
- Strong knowledge of OCI Identity and Access Management (IAM), Cloud Guard, Security Zones, governance, and cloud security best practices.
- Experience leading cloud migration, modernization, and enterprise OCI implementation projects.
- Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Experience with automation, scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar), and DevOps practices.
- Strong experience performing root cause analysis (RCA), problem management, and service improvement initiatives.
- Experience with cloud monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, disaster recovery, backup strategies, and cloud cost optimization.
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across support and engineering teams.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including architects, security teams, application teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
