Position: Presales Engineer – IIoT and Industrial Automation Solutions
Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Role Overview:
The Presales Engineer will support the sales and solutions team by providing strong technical expertise in IIoT, automation, and industrial systems. The role involves working closely with clients to understand their processes and pain points, conducting requirement analysis, designing suitable solutions, and ensuring technical clarity throughout the sales cycle. The individual will also contribute to project execution planning, documentation, vendor coordination, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of IIoT hardware components: sensors, transmitters, gateways, RTUs, Remote I/Os, and industrial controllers.
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems: PLCs, SCADA, Drives, Control Panels, Power Panels and basic programming exposure.
- Hands-on understanding of digital/analog signals and process instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, etc.).
- Expertise in industrial and IoT communication protocols: Modbus, CAN, OPC-UA, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, MQTT, CoAP, HTTP/REST, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, BLE, Zigbee, Cellular networks.
- Understanding of IoT gateways, protocol converters, edge computing hardware (Raspberry Pi, Jetson, OpenWRT), and basic edge analytics/edge AI concepts.
- Knowledge of internal IoT product offerings.
2. Solution Design & Sales Support
- Conduct end-to-end requirement study, process analysis, and identify pain points, bottlenecks, and measurable KPIs.
- Identify required data points/signals and evaluate feasibility of data collection.
- Design complete IIoT/industrial automation architectures tailored to client needs.
- Hardware selection with multiple OEM options; prepare SRS and solution blueprints.
- Develop PoCs, prototypes, and field trials in coordination with R&D.
- Prepare proposals including problem statement, solution approach, BOM, costing, ROI, and implementation roadmap.
- Manage RFP submissions with accurate technical documentation.
3. Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Engage with clients to understand challenges, process gaps, and objectives.
- Present solutions, conduct demos, and explain technical value clearly and effectively.
- Follow up on presales discussions to support business closures.
- Maintain long-term client relationships and ensure satisfaction during and after deployment.
4. Vendor Coordination & Partnership Development
- Coordinate with OEMs, technology partners, and vendors for solution components.
- Evaluate and identify suitable vendors/OEM partners for hardware/software integration.
- Maintain healthy vendor relationships to ensure seamless coordination during solution delivery.
5. Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Work with R&D/Product teams for product customization, improvements, and resolving technical gaps.
- Maintain structured technical documentation: case studies, manuals, system diagrams, and process flows.
- Provide inputs for marketing content, whitepapers, and technical collateral.
- Follow internal SOPs, maintain project logs, and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Participate in internal training, knowledge sharing, and contribute to innovation initiatives.
6. Project Rollout Support & Value Creation
- Support creation of project execution plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Assist in on-site installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities when required.
- Assist in user training & handover and provide post-rollout support for AMC/SLA commitments.
- Demonstrate value creation through data-driven insights and reports.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Qualification: B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical, or related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years in presales, solution design, IIoT projects, automation, or technical consulting.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of IIoT, sensors, gateways, industrial protocols, and automation systems.
- Ability to create strong technical documentation, proposals, and presentations.
- Good analytical skills for requirement study and solution design.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Basic programming knowledge (Python/C/C++), cloud IoT platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and database basics is an added advantage.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
