Position Overview
Are you passionate about disability rights, social justice, and policy advocacy?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialist - Advocacy & Network Support to join our team in Delhi. This entry-to-early-career role provides frontline support for our national advocacy and lobbying initiatives while offering valuable exposure to network management. Working under the guidance of the Senior Specialist - Network Communication & Support, you will help amplify the rights and voices of deafblind individuals across India.
Key Responsibilities1. Advocacy & Awareness Support (Primary Focus)
- Campaign & Event Support: Assist in planning, organizing, and delivering materials (presentations, handouts, basic translations) for advocacy events, government platforms, and public awareness campaigns.
- Documentation & Tracking: Maintain basic tracking of advocacy plan progress, document proceedings at key events, and log stakeholder engagement (government officials, media, partner organizations).
- Research & Field Stories: Conduct basic desk research on policies/schemes related to deafblindness and compile field stories/case studies to support position papers and advocacy materials.
- Partner Outreach: Connect partner organizations with relevant advocacy resources and government or development platforms.
2. Network Coordination & Administration
- Network Engagement: Provide light-touch coordination with self-help group/network members for advocacy events (confirming attendance, sharing information).
- Database & Record Keeping: Take meeting notes, draft summary reports, and assist in keeping the network membership database up to date.
- Escalation & Teamwork: Collaborate smoothly with internal teams and escalate complex network matters to the Senior Specialist.
What We Are Looking ForEssential Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Social Work, Social Science, Political Science, Mass Communication, or a related field).
- Experience: 0–1 years of relevant experience. Relevant internship or volunteer work counts!
- Core Interest: A genuine interest in disability rights, human rights, or the development sector.
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Hindi.
- Tech Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and standard email tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, reliability with deadlines, and a collaborative team attitude.
- Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel locally and regionally when required.
Desirable (Nice to Have):
- Prior internship or volunteer experience in advocacy or disability rights.
- Exposure to event coordination, public speaking, or government/media liaison.
- Knowledge of an additional Indian regional language.
