ROLE OVERVIEW
This is a technical leadership role focused on delivery quality. The Technical Manager will be responsible for the technical integrity of delivery across Stacknize’s active portfolio of 6–8 concurrent projects spanning web platforms, mobile applications, cloud infrastructure, and emerging AI initiatives. You will work across projects as the technical authority — reviewing architecture decisions, validating estimates, driving client technical discussions, mentoring Tech Leads, and ensuring that what we ship is well-architected, scalable, and production-ready.
You will work closely with the Project Manager, Tech Leads, and the CEO to bridge the gap between project execution and engineering excellence. This role requires someone with a strong engineering background who can engage credibly in architecture discussions, spot technical risks early, and represent Stacknize in client technical forums.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Oversight & Architecture Governance
- Review and approve architecture decisions, system design, and technology choices across all active projects. Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with project requirements.
- Validate technical estimates provided by Tech Leads — challenge where needed, calibrate based on historical data, and ensure commitments are realistic before they reach clients.
- Conduct periodic technical health checks across projects — identify technical debt, code quality issues, infrastructure risks, and performance bottlenecks before they become delivery blockers.
- Define and enforce engineering standards including code review practices, branching strategies, testing requirements, CI/CD pipeline expectations, and release readiness criteria.
- Guide Tech Leads on complex technical decisions — framework selection, API design, database modelling, third-party integration approaches, and cloud architecture patterns.
Client Technical Engagement
- Represent Stacknize in client-facing technical discussions — architecture walkthroughs, API integration reviews, security assessments, infrastructure planning, and technical due diligence.
- Translate client technical requirements into actionable implementation approaches. Bridge the gap between client expectations and internal engineering capabilities.
- Lead technical solutioning for new project phases and scope expansions — work with the CEO on proposals where technical depth is required.
- Handle technical escalations from clients that Tech Leads cannot resolve. Serve as the senior technical escalation point within the delivery organisation.
Tech Lead Mentorship & Engineering Quality
- Mentor and up-level Tech Leads across projects. Conduct regular architecture reviews and provide feedback on design decisions, code quality, and engineering practices.
- Identify skill gaps in the technical team and recommend targeted training, upskilling, or hiring. Advise on resource deployment based on technical skill-fit.
- Drive adoption of engineering best practices — automated testing, monitoring and observability, infrastructure as code, secure development practices, and documentation standards.
- Facilitate cross-project knowledge sharing — ensure reusable patterns, libraries, and lessons learned on one project benefit the wider team.
Technical Risk Management
- Proactively identify technical risks across the project portfolio — shared resource capacity, single points of failure, unvalidated technology choices, or integration dependencies — and propose mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical input for sprint planning, release go/no-go decisions, and post-incident reviews.
- Own production incident root-cause analysis for critical issues. Ensure corrective actions address systemic problems, not just symptoms.
- Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions, technology stack choices, and infrastructure cost trade-offs. Provide clear technical recommendations backed by data.
MUST-HAVE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 6–10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role spanning multiple projects (e.g., Engineering Manager, Technical Architect, Senior Tech Lead, or Technical Manager).
- Strong hands-on engineering background — production experience in at least two of: Flutter/Dart, React/Node.js, Python, or Spring boot. This role does not require daily coding, but you must be able to read code, review pull requests, and engage credibly in architecture discussions.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and guiding system architecture — API design, microservices, database design, cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience mentoring multiple Tech Leads or senior developers simultaneously across different projects and technology stacks.
- Proven track record in client-facing technical discussions — solution design, integration planning, technical due diligence, or pre-sales engineering.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices and the ability to identify when technical decisions are creating delivery risk.
- Ability to validate and challenge engineering effort estimates with data and experience.
- Excellent communication skills — ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and provide constructive architectural feedback to engineering teams.
GOOD-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- Experience in an IT services or digital agency environment managing technical delivery across multiple clients with varying technology stacks.
- Working knowledge of Flutter, Spring boot, and Node.js — Stacknize’s primary technology stack.
- Exposure to AI/ML integration, LLM-powered features, or conversational AI platforms.
- Experience with streaming media platforms, real-time communication (WebRTC, Livekit), or IVR/telephony systems.
- Familiarity with Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics) and mobile deployment pipelines.
- PMP, CSM, or AWS Solutions Architect certification.
- Experience using AI-powered development and productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) for code review, documentation, or architectural analysis.
WHAT WE OFFER
- A high-impact technical leadership role with direct access to the CEO and real influence over the engineering direction of the company.
- Cross-project visibility — you will work across every technology and every client in the portfolio.
- A growing company with an expanding client base, new product initiatives (AI Call Center, Hospital Management System), and a culture that values engineering excellence.
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience.
