About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Lead Perception Engineer to design and develop advanced 3D perception systems for autonomous robotic platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in computer vision, sensor fusion, LiDAR, camera systems, calibration, and ROS2. You will lead the development of perception pipelines that enable robots to accurately understand and interact with real-world environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy robust real-time 3D perception pipelines.
- Build perception systems using LiDAR, RGB/RGB-D cameras, stereo cameras, and IMUs.
- Develop algorithms for scene understanding, object detection, localization, and environmental perception.
- Design and implement sensor fusion frameworks integrating data from multiple sensors.
- Develop and optimize intrinsic and extrinsic calibration pipelines for cameras, LiDARs, and IMUs.
- Optimize perception models for real-time performance on edge computing platforms.
- Work closely with Robotics, Navigation, and AI teams to integrate perception with autonomous systems.
- Debug and improve perception performance using real-world sensor data.
- Lead and mentor a team of 4–5 engineers while actively contributing as an Individual Contributor (IC).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of industry experience in Computer Vision, Robotics, or Autonomous Systems.
- Strong experience working with LiDARs, Cameras, and 3D Perception systems.
- Hands-on experience with sensor calibration (Camera, LiDAR, IMU).
- Strong experience with ROS2 and robotics perception pipelines.
- Strong understanding of Computer Vision and 3D Perception.
- Excellent programming skills in C++ (Python is a plus).
- Experience working with real-world sensor data and debugging complex perception systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in AI model training using PyTorch or similar frameworks.
- Familiarity with TensorRT and model optimization for edge deployment.
- Knowledge of Localization and SLAM.
- Experience with NVIDIA DeepStream, GStreamer, or Holoscan.
- Hands-on experience with OpenCV, PCL, or similar computer vision libraries.
- Experience working on Robotics, Autonomous Systems, or Vision-based products.
Leadership Expectations
- Lead a team of 4–5 Perception Engineers.
- Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence.
- Own end-to-end development of perception modules from design to deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver production-ready perception solutions.
