The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair, and management of medical equipment used within the hospital. The role ensures that all biomedical devices function safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and quality standards to support patient care and clinical services.
Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Management
- Install, inspect, test, and commission new medical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing of all biomedical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty medical devices promptly to minimise downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and service reports.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend replacement or upgrades when necessary.
Calibration & Quality Assurance
- Conduct periodic calibration and performance verification of medical equipment.
- Ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Coordinate with external agencies for equipment validation and certification when required.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and accreditation requirements.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain documentation related to maintenance, calibration, and regulatory inspections.
- Assist during internal and external audits.
Vendor Coordination
- Liaise with equipment suppliers and service providers for repairs, AMC, and CMC.
- Evaluate service quality and maintain records of vendor performance.
- Coordinate warranty claims and service requests.
User Training & Support
- Provide basic operational training to doctors, nurses, and technicians on medical equipment.
- Educate users on equipment safety and proper handling procedures.
- Offer technical support during emergencies and critical procedures.
Safety Management
- Conduct electrical safety checks and risk assessments of biomedical equipment.
- Ensure proper disposal of obsolete or condemned equipment according to applicable guidelines.
- Investigate equipment-related incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering / Electronics & Biomedical Engineering or related field.
- Relevant certifications in biomedical equipment maintenance are desirable.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in hospital biomedical engineering or healthcare equipment management.
Location
Need to coordinate the biomedical requirements in Perinthalmanna, Calicut & Palakkad.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
