Job Summary :
The Jewellery Appraiser will be responsible for evaluating gold, silver, and precious jewellery items to determine purity, authenticity, and market value. The candidate must perform accurate appraisal procedures, maintain proper documentation, and provide professional customer support during valuation processes. Candidates should have excellent observation skills, strong calculation ability, and hands-on knowledge of gold testing methods and jewellery appraisal procedures.
Key ResponsibilitiesGold & Jewellery Appraisal :
- Evaluate and appraise gold, silver, and other jewellery items.
- Check gold purity using Karat Meter, XRF machine, acid test, and touchstone methods.
- Perform accurate stone deduction and net weight calculations.
- Verify BIS Hallmark standards and identify genuine hallmark jewellery.
- Identify fake, plated, or duplicate jewellery items.
Valuation & Calculation
- Calculate jewellery value based on purity and current gold market rates.
- Perform accurate valuation calculations including melting deductions and wastage.
- Maintain appraisal records and valuation documentation properly.
Customer Handling :
- Explain appraisal results clearly and professionally to customers.
- Handle customer queries regarding valuation and purity testing.
- Maintain transparency and professionalism during customer interactions.
Operational Responsibilities :
- Ensure safe handling of customer jewellery during appraisal procedures.
- Maintain appraisal equipment and testing tools properly.
- Coordinate with showroom operations and support daily appraisal activities.
Compliance & Ethics :
- Follow company policies and operational procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality, honesty, and professional ethics at all times.
- Report suspicious or fraudulent jewellery immediately to management.
Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills :
- Strong knowledge of jewellery appraisal and gold testing methods.
- Knowledge of BIS Hallmark verification.
- Experience using Karat Meter / XRF machine preferred.
- Understanding of stone deduction and purity calculations.
- Knowledge of current gold market valuation practices.

- Good communication and customer handling skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
- Honest, trustworthy, and responsible attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced showroom environment.
Eligibility Criteria :
- Minimum qualification: 10th / 12th / Any Degree.
- Experience in jewellery appraisal or gold loan appraisal preferred.
- Freshers with jewellery appraisal training may also apply.
