Cluster Head – Hospital Management (Job Description)
Role Summary
The Cluster Head is responsible for managing and overseeing the performance, operations, and profitability of multiple hospitals/clinics within a defined region. This role ensures consistent quality of care, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations across multiple hospitals/units
- Ensure standardization of processes (OPD, IPD, emergency, diagnostics)
- Monitor service quality and patient care standards
2. Financial Performance
- Manage P&L (Profit & Loss) for the cluster
- Drive revenue growth and cost optimization
- Monitor billing efficiency, insurance claims, and collections
3. Team Leadership
- Supervise hospital administrators and department heads
- Recruit, train, and mentor leadership teams
- Drive performance management and accountability
4. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (like NABH)
- Implement quality improvement initiatives
- Handle audits and risk management
5. Patient Experience
- Improve patient satisfaction and reduce complaints
- Ensure smooth patient journey across all units
- Monitor TAT (turnaround time) and service delivery
6. Business Development
- Identify growth opportunities (new services, specialties, partnerships)
- Build relationships with doctors, consultants, and stakeholders
- Expand market presence in the region
7. Reporting & Strategy
- Analyze performance metrics and prepare reports for top management
- Implement strategic plans and operational improvements
- Use data-driven decision-making
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and multi-unit management experience
- Financial acumen (budgeting, P&L handling)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving
- Knowledge of hospital operations and healthcare regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management / Business Administration
- Preferred: Master’s (MHA / MBA in Healthcare)
- 8–15 years of experience in hospital management
- Experience handling multiple units/branches is highly preferred
Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Regional Director / COO / CEO
- Direct Reports: Hospital Administrators, Unit Heads

- Revenue and profitability of the cluster
- Bed occupancy rate (BOR)
- Average length of stay (ALOS)
- Patient satisfaction score
- Cost per patient / operational efficiency
- Staff productivity and retention
Typical Work Scope
- Managing 2–10 hospitals/clinics within a region
- Frequent travel between units
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
