About the role:
Support the lead teacher in holding a calm, ordered space for children aged 3 to 6. This role suits someone who wants to learn the pedagogy on the floor and grow into it.
Your Responsibilities:
- Support the lead teacher through the daily work cycle
- Help individual children begin, stay with, and complete their work
- Support the day-to-day running of the classroom
- Keep the space clean, ordered, and ready each day; repair and prepare materials
- Observe children daily and keep notes to share with the lead
- Support practical life and grace and courtesy in everyday moments, including meals, transitions, and care of the space
- Learn and apply Montessori pedagogy at our learning centre
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English
- Background in Psychology (preferred)
- Artistic talents (painting, singing, poetry, music, speech & drama, design) are a huge bonus
- Awareness of alternative learning methods
- Prior experience working with children (desirable)
- Ability to research and design lessons on any topic sparked by children's curiosity
- Skills or interest in designing and creating learning materials
Most importantly: Candidates must possess an awareness of children's needs and the ability to reflect and re-align oneself and the environment with the child's best interest in mind.
