Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, analytical, and highly driven Donor Research & Outreach Intern to help expand our international fundraising footprint. This role is ideal for an individual with a background in social development who wants hands-on experience in global philanthropy, strategic data collection, and frontline partnerships.
Your primary focus will be to map out international foundations and organizations that fund social development projects in India, compile this data into an actionable pipeline, and actively make the initial outreach calls to unlock potential funding opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- International Donor Research: Map, identify, and profile global foundations, trusts, foreign corporate CSR arms, and institutional donors that actively provide grants or donations to Indian organizations for social impact work.
- Database Creation & Management: Build and maintain a structured database (using Excel or Google Sheets) tracking critical data points, including donor focus areas, funding capacities, geographic preferences, key decision-makers, and submission timelines.
- Frontline Outreach & Cold Calling: Initiate contact with potential international donors via professional emails and direct phone calls. Confidently present our organization's mission and pitch our social initiatives to secure introductory evaluation meetings.
- Pipeline Management: Track the status of all communications, follow up systematically with leads, and maintain clear records of responses, rejections, and scheduled introductory meetings.
- Briefing Materials: Assist the leadership team by preparing brief background notes on interested donors prior to high-level strategic meetings.

- Basic Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree (completed or currently in the final year) in a relevant development discipline (e.g., Social Work, Development Studies, Public Policy, International Relations, Sociology, or related social sciences).
- Research Acumen: Exceptional ability to navigate international grant directories, web search tools, and financial disclosures to find hidden funding sources.
- Communication Skills: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory. Must possess the confidence, professional etiquette, and clarity required to initiate cold calls and build immediate rapport with international stakeholders.
- Technical Literacy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) or Google Workspace tools for clean data management.
- Attributes: High resilience, persistence in the face of cold outreach challenges, and a genuine passion for the social impact sector.
