A quality supervisor in the steel industry manages quality control processes, inspects raw materials and finished steel products, and enforces safety and compliance standards. Key duties include monitoring production lines, conducting root cause analysis for defects, and leading shop-floor teams
- Product Inspection: Check raw materials (scrap, sponge iron, billets) and finished goods (TMT bars, coils, structural steel) for surface and dimensional defects.
- Testing and Compliance: Ensure adherence to national and international testing standards (e.g., BIS, ASTM) and manage equipment calibration.
- Defect Management: Investigate product rejections using root cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone) and issue corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Process Audits: Audit shop-floor operations, welding quality, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Team Leadership: Train line inspectors, conduct safety briefings, and manage shift quality reporting.
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in quality control or manufacturing within the steel, rolling mill, or metal fabrication sector.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of destructive/non-destructive testing (NDT), dimensional measuring tools, and basic statistical process control (SPC).
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
Pay: ₹467,865.59 - ₹1,786,080.48 per year
