Job Summary
The Lab HOD / Incharge is responsible for overall management of the laboratory department, ensuring accurate testing, quality control, staff supervision, NABH/NABL compliance, patient safety, and smooth day-to-day laboratory operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Operations
- Oversee daily functioning of all laboratory sections including:
- Biochemistry
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Clinical Pathology
- Serology
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory investigations.
- Monitor sample collection, processing, and reporting procedures.
- Maintain laboratory turnaround time (TAT).
Team Management
- Supervise lab technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff.
- Prepare staff duty rosters and shift schedules.
- Conduct induction and training programs for new employees.
- Guide and mentor junior technicians.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure NABH/NABL standards are followed.
- Maintain quality control records and calibration logs.
- Monitor internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Ensure biomedical waste management protocols are followed.
- Maintain infection control practices inside the laboratory.
Equipment Management
- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Coordinate AMC/CMC service activities.
- Maintain inventory of reagents, kits, and consumables.
- Prevent stock shortages and expiry issues.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain laboratory records and statutory documents.
- Prepare monthly departmental reports.
- Handle audit documentation and compliance records.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient reports and data.
Patient & Doctor Coordination
- Coordinate with doctors regarding critical values and urgent reports.
- Resolve patient-related laboratory issues professionally.
- Ensure proper communication with all departments.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge in laboratory procedures and quality systems
- Leadership and team handling skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of NABH/NABL protocols
- Computer knowledge and LIS handling
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience in multi-speciality or diabetic hospital preferred
- Ability to handle laboratory operations independently
- Experience in managing audits and accreditation processes
Working Timing
General Shift 9.30am-6.30pm.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
