A Quality Engineer in a bar peeling works facility is responsible for ensuring that peeled metal bars (typically steel, stainless steel, or alloy bars) meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Inspecting raw materials and finished peeled bars.
- Monitoring dimensional accuracy (diameter, straightness, surface finish, tolerance).
- Conducting quality tests such as hardness testing, ultrasonic testing, and surface defect inspection.
- Reviewing mill test certificates and material traceability records.
- Investigating quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conforming products.
- Implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintaining quality documentation and inspection reports.
- Ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements.
- Working closely with production, maintenance, and customer quality teams.
Common skills required:
- Knowledge of metallurgy and steel manufacturing processes.
- Ability to use measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, ultrasonic testers, etc.).
- Understanding of quality tools such as SPC, 7 QC Tools, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience with quality management systems and audits.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
