Job Title: Assistant Manager – Legal (Litigation)

Key Responsibilities1. Litigation Management
- Handle civil, criminal, and recovery litigation matters arising from lending operations.
- Manage cases under laws such as SARFAESI Act, DRT proceedings, NI Act (Cheque Bounce cases), Consumer Forum cases, and other civil disputes.
- Draft, review, and vet legal notices, replies, plaints, written statements, affidavits, and applications.
- Coordinate and monitor cases in District Courts, High Courts, DRTs, DRATs, Consumer Commissions, and other forums.
2. Recovery & Enforcement Support
- Work closely with the collections and recovery team for legal escalation cases.
- Initiate and support enforcement actions under SARFAESI (including coordination with Authorized Officers).
- Liaise with external law firms, recovery agents (as per legal compliance), and court-appointed officers.
3. Legal Documentation & Advisory
- Review loan agreements, security documents, guarantee deeds, and related contracts.
- Provide legal inputs on product structuring from litigation risk perspective.
- Ensure documentation is legally enforceable and compliant with applicable laws and RBI guidelines.
4. Coordination & Vendor Management
- Manage panel advocates across jurisdictions.
- Track litigation status, hearings, and ensure timely updates in MIS.
- Evaluate performance of external legal counsel.
5. Compliance & Risk Mitigation
- Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines (RBI, NHB/NBFC regulations).
- Identify legal risks in lending and recovery processes and suggest mitigation measures.
- Support internal audits and regulatory inspections with litigation data.
6. Reporting & MIS
- Maintain litigation MIS, dashboards, and case trackers.
- Provide periodic updates to senior management on high-value and critical cases.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of civil procedure, SARFAESI, NI Act, DRT processes
- Experience in NBFC, banking, or financial services litigation preferred
- Drafting and legal documentation skills
- Stakeholder management (internal teams + external advocates)
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Ability to handle high-volume litigation portfolio
Qualifications
- LL.B. (3-year or 5-year law degree) from a recognized university
- Enrolment with Bar Council of India (preferred)
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience in legal litigation
- Prior experience in NBFC, bank, or financial institution is highly preferred
