- Machine Setup: Preparing the machine with the correct tools (drills, end mills, inserts) and securing workpieces using vises, clamps, or fixtures.
- Program Loading: Uploading G-code programs into the machine controller and performing "dry runs" to ensure the tool path is safe.
- Operation & Monitoring: Running the production cycle while listening for unusual noises and watching for signs of tool wear.
- Quality Control: Using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and go/no-go gauges to ensure parts meet blueprint specifications.
- Maintenance: Performing routine upkeep, such as topping off coolant, lubricating ways, and clearing chips.
