BIM Manager – Data Center Construction Project
Lead BIM strategy, implementation, and execution for data center construction project, establishing BIM standards, protocols, and workflows aligned with project requirements and industry best practices. Develop and maintain BIM Execution Plan (BEP) defining modeling standards, level of development (LOD) requirements, collaboration procedures, and deliverable specifications across all design and construction phases.
Manage multidisciplinary BIM coordination process across architectural, structural, MEP, and technology systems, conducting regular clash detection sessions using Navisworks or similar platforms. Resolve spatial conflicts, system interferences, and constructability issues before field installation, with particular focus on dense MEP layouts, cable tray routing, cooling distribution, and electrical infrastructure critical to data center operations.
Oversee BIM team members and coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and specialty consultants to ensure timely model development, accurate information exchange, and integration of all building systems into federated coordination models. Establish and enforce model quality control procedures to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
Facilitate design reviews and coordination meetings using 3D models for visualization, clash resolution, and decision-making support. Generate coordination drawings, fabrication models, and shop drawing support for MEP contractors, particularly for mission-critical systems including electrical distribution, cooling infrastructure, and fire protection.
Implement and manage Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms for model sharing, version control, and document management. Ensure proper file naming conventions, folder structures, and access permissions to maintain information integrity and security throughout project lifecycle.
Support construction planning and sequencing through 4D simulations, identifying logistical constraints, space conflicts, and schedule optimization opportunities. Assist in quantity takeoffs, cost estimation support, and progress tracking using BIM data integration with project controls systems.
Manage as-built model development and documentation, ensuring accurate capture of installed conditions, system modifications, and final building information for facility management handover. Prepare COBie data deliverables and structured facility information for client asset management systems.
Requires extensive experience with Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, and data center construction projects. Deep understanding of mission-critical facility systems, MEP coordination complexity, and industry standards (ISO 19650, ASHRAE) essential. Professional certifications (Autodesk Certified Professional, buildingSMART) highly valued.
