Job Summary
Shree Graphics Ltd. is looking for a skilled and responsible Turner / Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining lathe and workshop machinery, machining and fitting metal components as per drawings and required dimensions, and ensuring good quality and safe working practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate conventional lathe machines for turning and machining metal components.
- Perform turning, facing, drilling, boring, threading, grooving and other machining operations as required.
- Read and understand basic engineering drawings, dimensions and job specifications.
- Set up jobs properly using chucks, fixtures, tools and other accessories.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and set suitable speed, feed and depth of cut.
- Measure finished components using Vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges and other measuring instruments.
- Ensure components are produced according to required dimensions, tolerances and quality standards.
- Carry out fitting, assembly, adjustment and basic repair work when required.
- Identify machining defects and make necessary corrections.
- Perform basic machine cleaning, lubrication and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
- Follow all factory safety rules, PPE requirements and housekeeping/5S practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and discipline on the shop floor.
- Coordinate with the Production Supervisor and other team members to complete jobs on time.
- Report machine problems, tool issues, material problems or quality defects to the supervisor.
- Maintain productivity and minimize material and tool wastage.
Required Skills
- Good practical knowledge of conventional lathe machine operations.
- Knowledge of basic fitting and workshop practices.
- Ability to read basic mechanical/engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of Vernier, micrometer and other measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and basic machining parameters.
- Good attention to dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Ability to identify and solve basic machining/fitting problems.
- Willingness to work on the manufacturing shop floor.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Safety-conscious and disciplined approach to work.
Qualification
- ITI – Turner / Fitter / Machinist preferred.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering may also be considered.
- Candidates with relevant practical experience may be considered even without formal ITI qualification.
Experience
- Freshers with relevant ITI qualification may apply.
- 1–5 years of experience in lathe operation, fitting or engineering manufacturing will be preferred.
- Experienced candidates with strong conventional lathe/fitting skills will be given preference.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, on-site manufacturing/shop-floor position.
- Candidate should be comfortable working around machinery, metal components, oil/coolant and workshop equipment.
- Must follow safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
