About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Purchase Manager to oversee procurement operations for our food manufacturing business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing high-quality raw materials, packaging materials, and other supplies while ensuring cost efficiency, timely procurement, and compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, packaging materials, and consumables.
- Source, evaluate, negotiate, and onboard new vendors while maintaining strong relationships with existing suppliers.
- Obtain competitive quotations and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Raise Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely procurement of materials.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Finance teams to forecast procurement requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and plan purchases to avoid stock shortages or excess inventory.
- Ensure all procured materials meet food safety and quality standards.
- Track supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality.
- Maintain procurement records, vendor agreements, and purchase documentation.
- Resolve supplier issues related to quality, pricing, and deliveries.
- Stay updated on market trends, commodity prices, and sourcing opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Technology, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of experience in procurement or purchasing within the food manufacturing or FMCG industry.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing food ingredients, packaging materials, and consumables.
- Experience in vendor development, contract negotiation, and procurement planning.
- Understanding of inventory management and supply chain processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (experience with procurement software is an advantage).
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with D2C/FMCG food brands.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, vendor compliance, and quality documentation.
- Strong commercial acumen and cost optimization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple vendors and procurement projects simultaneously.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
