Job description
Support women-led seaweed enterprises by strengthening business operations, product development, production quality, market access, and community engagement to improve sustainable livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities
Train women's SHGs in bookkeeping, pricing, inventory, sales, marketing, vendor management, and basic business planning.
Support development, testing, and commercialization of seaweed-based value-added products; collect customer feedback and identify market opportunities.
Ensure quality production, hygiene, standardized processes, packaging, and labeling.
Develop and manage vendors for raw materials, packaging, and logistics while supporting procurement and supply chain efficiency. Expand wholesale and branded sales through retailers, distributors, institutions, exhibitions, fairs, community events, demonstrations, and promotional activities. Assist with regulatory compliance, including FSSAI, manufacturing, labeling, packaging, and related documentation.
Conduct regular field visits to coastal villages, build relationships with women's groups and stakeholders, facilitate training, and provide enterprise support.
Maintain records on production, sales, training, partnerships, product development, and project reporting.
Key Outcomes
Strong women-led enterprises with improved business management, product quality, diversified products, reliable supply chains, expanded markets, regulatory compliance, and increased income generation.
Skills Required
Fluent in Tamil.
Based in or willing to relocate to the Rameswaram region.
Willing to travel regularly to coastal villages. Strong communication, organizational, training, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with SHGs, rural livelihoods, women's entrepreneurship, food processing, community development, sales, or small enterprise development is preferred.
