Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner with strong expertise in the Payment Gateway domain, particularly within the US payments ecosystem. The ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of how payment gateways, payment processors, card networks, acquiring banks, issuing banks, and merchants interact to facilitate secure and compliant payment transactions.
The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, architects, QA teams, and external payment partners to define product strategy, prioritize requirements, and deliver scalable, secure, and customer-centric payment solutions.
Must-Have Skills
- 8–12 years of overall experience, including significant experience as a Technical Product Owner/Product Manager.
- Proven expertise in managing the product lifecycle from ideation through delivery and enhancement.
- Strong experience owning and managing product backlogs for enterprise applications.
- Ability to gather, analyze, prioritize, and translate business requirements into actionable user stories.

Strong understanding of the complete payment flow:
- Customer initiates payment through web or mobile applications.
- Payment gateway securely captures payment information.
- Sensitive payment information is encrypted and/or tokenized.
- Transactions are routed to payment processors.
- Authorization requests are sent to card networks.
- Card networks communicate with issuing banks.
- Issuing banks approve or decline transactions.
- Responses flow back to merchants.
- Authorized transactions proceed through settlement and merchant funding processes.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience working with engineering teams on API-driven payment solutions.

- Experience with merchant onboarding processes.
- Familiarity with analytics tools and KPI measurement for payment products.
- Exposure to international payment ecosystems.
- Understanding of emerging payment trends and fintech innovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the product backlog for payment gateway initiatives.
- Gather, analyze, prioritize, and document business requirements.
- Define user stories, acceptance criteria, and product requirements.
- Drive product roadmap planning and execution.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams throughout the SDLC.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
- Define and enhance payment gateway capabilities across the payment lifecycle.
- Support integrations with payment processors, card networks, and merchant platforms.
- Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Review technical designs and drive API integration strategies.
- Partner with business, compliance, operations, risk, and engineering teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Communicate product priorities, progress, dependencies, and risks to stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements aligned with business goals.
