Job Summary
The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the outlet during assigned shifts, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food quality and hygiene standards, managing staff performance, and achieving sales and operational targets. The role ensures smooth outlet operations while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities1. Shift Operations
- Manage the overall outlet operations during the assigned shift.
- Ensure timely opening and closing of the outlet as per SOP.
- Monitor product availability and coordinate replenishment.
- Ensure smooth coordination between kitchen, production, billing, and service teams.
- Handle customer flow efficiently during peak hours.
2. Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain hospitality standards.
- Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
- Ensure customers receive fresh, high-quality products.
- Build customer satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
3. Team Management
- Supervise and guide service staff, cashiers, and housekeeping personnel.
- Allocate duties and monitor employee productivity.
- Conduct shift briefings before the start of each shift.
- Train new employees on SOPs, customer service, and hygiene practices.
- Maintain discipline, attendance, and grooming standards.
4. Sales & Business Performance
- Achieve daily sales targets assigned to the outlet.
- Promote high-margin products and seasonal offers.
- Monitor product wastage and minimise operational losses.
- Ensure attractive product displays to maximise sales.
5. Inventory & Stock Control
- Monitor stock levels throughout the shift.
- Coordinate with the production team for timely replenishment.
- Verify stock movement and minimise wastage.
- Conduct daily stock checks as instructed.
6. Cash & Billing
- Supervise billing operations and ensure billing accuracy.
- Verify cash collection and reconcile shift-wise sales.
- Ensure proper handling of digital payment transactions.
- Report discrepancies immediately.
7. Food Safety & Hygiene
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI regulations and company SOPs.
- Maintain cleanliness of dining, service, kitchen, and storage areas.
- Monitor food handling, storage temperatures, and expiry dates.
- Ensure employees follow personal hygiene and grooming standards.
8. Quality Control
- Ensure consistency in product quality and presentation.
- Monitor freshness of sweets, savouries, and food items.
- Remove expired or damaged products immediately.
- Coordinate with the production team regarding quality issues.
9. Administration & Reporting
- Prepare daily shift reports.
- Record attendance and manpower utilisation.
- Maintain operational checklists and documentation.
- Report maintenance issues and equipment breakdowns.
- Communicate shift updates to the Outlet/Unit Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or any relevant field.
- Food Safety certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience in retail food, sweets, savouries, bakery, QSR, or restaurant operations.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory or team leader role.
