Job Overview
We are a growing construction materials supply business in Chennai. We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Accountant to manage our daily financial transactions, track material inventory, manage customer credit balances, and handle statutory tax filings. The ideal candidate will have direct experience navigating the specific financial workflows of trading, logistics, or construction supply businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date daily ledger entries in accounting software (TallyPrime / Zoho Books).
- Inventory & Stock Accounting: Track incoming material stock from manufacturers and outgoing supply dispatches to site locations.
- Receivables & Payables Management: Monitor outstanding payments from contractors, builders, and clients. Follow up on overdue credit accounts and manage supplier payments.
- Invoicing & E-Way Bills: Generate accurate GST-compliant tax invoices and handle the quick generation of E-Way bills for material transport vehicles.
- Taxation & Compliance: Prepare data for timely filings of GST (GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B) and TDS computations.
- Banking & Reconciliation: Conduct regular bank reconciliations and verify cash/digital payments from site deliveries.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: B.Com, M.Com, or equivalent degree in accounting/finance.
- Software Mastery: Proficient in TallyPrime or Zoho Books, along with advanced knowledge of MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Industry Knowledge: Prior experience working with traders, distributors, hardware stores, or construction material companies is highly preferred.
- Taxation Expertise: Thorough practical understanding of GST regulations, e-invoicing, and E-Way bill portals.
- Language: Fluency in Tamil is mandatory (for local vendor and driver communication); working knowledge of English is preferred.
