Brief Job Overview
This is a non-supervisory position responsible to Plan, implement, and coordinate the policies and procedures surrounding the Environment, Health, and Safety of the USP India facility and the personnel. A role where proactiveness is a key requirement and incumbent is expected to handle Environment, Health, and Safety related requirements for India Sites in coordination with Team Lead EHS. The incumbent will be also be participating in various initiatives on Sustainability for the organization
How will YOU create impact here at USP?
- Assist Team Lead - EHS in implementing Environment, Health and Safety systems and practices, policies, and procedures.
- Organize EHS promotional activities and campaigns to inculcate safety culture.
- Conduct laboratory based process risk assessments and review engineering controls to minimize employee risk.
- Ensure all Workplace hazards are identified and risks are proactively assessed.
- Establish safe work procedures for hazardous work activities performed in chemical and biological laboratories.
- Plan and execution of industrial hygiene (IH) study programs as per workplace requirements.
- Preparing EHS annual training calendar, perform training need identification (TNI) for the employees and imparting sessions as scheduled to increase the awareness among the employees.
- Ensure that all Near Misses and Incidents are reported, investigated and CAPA implemented.
- Analyze EHS Metrics and establish action plans to drive continuous improvement
- Conduct EHS walkthroughs in floor and ensure observations are closed with effective CAPA.
- Facilitate internal and external audits and initiate appropriate actions, improvements as per the recommendations.
- Maintaining Fire and Safety systems effectiviely
- Monitor and maintain Occupational Health Center and Ambulance.
- Maintaining EHS Stores and safety stock.
- Ensure assigned daily, weekly, and monthly EHS tasks are completed on time.
- Ensure the contractor safety management system and work permit system implemented at site.
- Ensure up to date Environment, Health, and Safety regulatory permits and authorization are in place. This includes all relevant air, water, waste, hazardous chemicals and solid/ hazardous/ biomedical/ e-waste/ plastic waste management and safety - construction and operating permits. Prepare and maintain all records and reports.
- Ensure all the environmental monitoring performed on time and reports submission to state pollution control board as per legal/ regulatory requirements.
- Dispose the hazardous and non-hazardous waste to authorized vendors.
- Co-ordinate with waste disposal officers for disposal of generated waste and monitor hazardous waste storage room.
- Collect and analyse EHS data and prepare EHS MIS reports and presentations.
- Participate in various sustainability initiatives.
- Interaction with Global EHS Team as necessary
Who is USP Looking For?
- Minimum 5 Years of experience in Environment, Health and Safety field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environment Healthand Safety, or a related field.
- Experience in ISO Certifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable in working on different software tools
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Motivated, results-driven team player with multitasking skills
