About us
B.L. Tea Industries is a bought-leaf tea factory in Jorhat, Assam, processing around 2 million kg of made tea a year across six production lines. We also run Morbagh Tea, our branded consumer line, sold across Assam and beyond. We are part of a four-vertical family group that also covers retail showrooms, concrete manufacturing and PWD government contracting.
We are not a software company. We are a manufacturer that has decided to run on its own software.
The role
We have built an internal Operations Management System — a Next.js and Supabase application covering 46 modules across production, procurement, blending, dispatch, stock movement, logistics, sales, debtors and cost analysis. It is live, it holds real operational data, and the factory has started running on it.
We now need a developer to own it.
This is not a maintenance job on a legacy system, and it is not a greenfield project that may never ship. The foundation is built and working. What it needs is someone to take it from a working internal tool to a genuinely good one — and then keep extending it as we bring more of the business onto it.
You will be the one technical person on this. You will work directly with the CEO. There is no product manager, no ticket queue, and no committee. You will spend time on the factory floor and in the office understanding how tea actually gets made, procured and dispatched, and then you will build the software that runs it.
What you will do
Own the Morbagh operations dashboard end to end — features, bug fixes, performance, data integrity. Build new modules as we bring more of the business onto the system, starting with order tracking and generation, and online sales channels. Design Postgres schemas and Supabase row-level security policies for a system with real role separation between CEO, admin and floor staff. Improve data entry so that a supervisor entering forty rows of production data does it quickly and without errors. Build reporting and analysis views that give the management team numbers they can act on. Sit with the people who use the system, watch them use it, and fix what is actually slowing them down.
What we are looking for
Two to five years building web applications, with real production experience in React. Strong TypeScript. Practical knowledge of Next.js, ideally the App Router. Comfortable with SQL and relational data modelling — you should be able to look at a messy spreadsheet and design the tables it should have been. Tailwind CSS or a similar utility-first approach. Git, and the discipline to use it properly.
You should be able to work without close supervision, because there will not be any. You should be willing to learn a manufacturing business rather than treating it as an abstract set of CRUD screens. And you should care about whether the person using your screen at 7am on the factory floor finds it easy.
Nice to have, not required
Supabase specifically, including auth and row-level security. Experience turning Excel or Google Sheets workflows into real applications. Data visualisation and reporting. Any exposure to manufacturing, agri-processing, FMCG or ERP systems. Assamese or Hindi alongside English, for working with the factory team.
