Purpose
CEEW seeks to hire a Research Analyst to support and strengthen the Mobility team’s work on microbuses and public transport systems, particularly in small and medium-sized cities. The role will focus on evaluating operational, financial, and institutional frameworks for microbus deployment, identifying implementation challenges, and designing scalable business models for wider adoption. The candidate will conduct in-depth assessments of microbus pilots in collaboration with peer institutes, industry partners, and government stakeholders.
The position will also require a strong understanding of urban governance structures to develop institutional pathways that enable sustainable integration of microbuses into city transport systems. In addition to rigorous analytical work, the candidate will contribute to high-impact policy outputs, stakeholder consultations, and communication materials, helping translate research into actionable strategies for strengthening public transport delivery.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Research and analytical support:
- Conduct techno-economic analyses, operational assessments, and business case evaluations to inform scalable microbus deployment in small and medium-sized cities.
- Assess national and state-level mobility trends to contextualise developments in the microbus and IPT sectors.
- Review policies, regulatory frameworks, and technology pathways to propose technically sound and commercially viable implementation models.
- Design and execute primary research, including questionnaire development, enumerator training, field monitoring, and data validation.
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesise findings into structured reports and high-impact knowledge products.
- Support impact assessments related to electric mobility, including employment, skills development, economic implications, and environmental benefits.
Collaboration and stakeholder engagement
- Develop microbus connectivity and feeder service plans in coordination with local operators, industry partners, and government stakeholders.
- Engage with government officials, industry representatives, and academic institutions to gather insights, validate findings, and strengthen institutional pathways.
- Contribute analytical outputs, including concise insights and compelling data visualisations for stakeholder communications and social media dissemination.
- Support capacity-building initiatives, stakeholder consultations, and knowledge dissemination events.
Programme & Project Assistance
- Assist in project implementation activities across public transport and electric mobility initiatives.
- Prepare presentations, factsheets, and research communication materials to support programme objectives.
- Provide coordination and administrative support for workshops, consultations, and outreach activities, as required.
Selection Criteria
Education and experience:
- Master’s degree with specialisation in transport planning/transportation engineering/urban planning/public policy/ energy or related field.
- Should have a strong research background, including an understanding of bus operation.
- Published peer-reviewed publications or high-impact policy reports.
Key Skills
