Key Responsibilities
A successful sysadmin handles a wide array of duties to maintain a robust IT infrastructure:
- System Maintenance: Install, configure, and update hardware, operating systems, and application software.
- Security & Access Control: Manage user accounts, enforce password policies, maintain firewalls, and monitor for unauthorized access.
- Backup & Recovery: Develop and execute regular data backups and disaster recovery plans to prevent data loss.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues reported by employees.
- Documentation & Training: Create and maintain IT policy documents, architectural diagrams, and user-training guides. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

- Operating Systems: Deep knowledge of Windows Server, Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS), or macOS.

- Cloud & Virtualization: Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Scripting: Basic coding/scripting abilities in languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate routine tasks.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills, especially when handling urgent user requests or IT outages
