ABB’s Process Automation business area enables customers to operate some of the world’s largest and most complex industrial infrastructures, helping them outrun – leaner and cleaner.
We offer a broad range of automation, electrification and digital solutions for process, hybrid and maritime industries, including industry-specific integrated control and software as well as measurement and analytics solutions and services.
In this role, we are looking for a Software Engineer – Edge & Digital Solutions to join our Industrial Automation Digital Organization. The role involves developing and enhancing software applications and Edge-based solutions for industrial automation platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, test, and deploy scalable and reliable software components while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Develop and maintain applications using .NET, C#, and Angular across front-end and back-end layers.

Design and develop REST APIs and backend services for enterprise applications.

Contribute to Edge and Industrial IoT solutions utilizing MQTT, AMQP, HTTP, and Modbus protocols.

Support telemetry data processing and edge-to-cloud integrations within industrial environments.

Develop and support microservices-based applications using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.

Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to enhance productivity and code quality.

Work with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins to support automated testing and deployment.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, troubleshooting activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

3–5 years of professional software development experience with full-stack development exposure.

BE/BTech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.

Strong knowledge of .NET/.NET Core, C#, and REST API development.

Familiarity with Microservices architecture, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL databases, and CI/CD concepts.

Knowledge of MQTT, AMQP, HTTP, or Modbus communication protocols is advantageous.

Exposure to Edge Computing, Industrial IoT, or industrial automation solutions is preferred.

Experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot is an added advantage.

Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently in Agile teams.
