Role Summary
We are looking for a Network Consultant with strong hands-on expertise
in WAN and SD‑WAN technologies to design, implement, and support
enterprise-wide WAN solutions. The consultant will work closely with
business, application, security, and infrastructure teams to translate
requirements into robust, scalable, and secure WAN architectures. This
role requires deep technical skills, strong troubleshooting capability,
and the ability to independently drive delivery across multiple WAN
environments.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with internal teams and customers to understand business,
application, and network requirements.
- Translate functional and non-functional requirements (performance,
resiliency, security, cost) into technical WAN solutions.
- Clearly explain design choices, risks, and trade-offs to both
technical and non-technical stakeholders.
WAN & SD-WAN Design
- Design and contribute to enterprise-grade WAN and SD-WAN
architectures, including:
- Multi-region and multi-vendor SD-WAN environments
- Hybrid WAN (MPLS, Internet, LTE/5G)
- High-availability and active/active designs
- High-Level Designs (HLDs)
- Network diagrams and operational documentation
- Design and validate routing solutions using:
- Traffic engineering, route redistribution, and failover
mechanisms
Implementation & Delivery
- Perform hands-on implementation of:
- WAN routing and connectivity for branch, data center, and cloud
locations
- MPLS-to-SD-WAN migrations
- WAN upgrades and technology refresh initiatives
- Execute testing, cutover activities, and post-implementation
validation to ensure successful delivery.
Operations & Advanced Troubleshooting
- Provide L3/L4 support for incidents and complex WAN issues.
- Troubleshoot problems related to:
- OSPF/BGP routing instability
- MPLS and Internet circuit performance
- SD-WAN path selection and application routing
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and contribute to permanent fixes.
- Proactively optimize WAN performance, stability, and cost
efficiency.
Vendor & Service Provider Coordination
- Work with telecom providers and SD-WAN vendors on:
- Circuit provisioning and decommissioning
- Fault resolution and escalations
- SLA adherence and service quality issues
- Support commercial and technical discussions related to WAN
services.
Documentation & Standards
- Maintain accurate documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
- Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture, security
policies, and operational standards.
- Contribute to defining best practices and reusable WAN design
patterns.
Required Qualifications
- 12-15 years of experience in enterprise network engineering or
consulting.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- WAN and SD-WAN design, implementation, and operations
- Experience working independently on customer engagements or internal
delivery initiatives.
- Latency, jitter, packet loss, and QoS
- High availability and resiliency design
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in complex, multi-site WAN
environments.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with SD-WAN vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, VMware,
Versa, or Palo Alto.
- Exposure to cloud networking and WAN connectivity (AWS, Azure, or
GCP).
- Basic automation or scripting knowledge (Python, APIs, configuration
templates).
- Experience supporting global WAN environments with multiple
carriers.
Education & Certifications (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
experience.
