What are we looking for ?
We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer / PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL Developer with strong expertise in database development, performance tuning, query optimization, ETL processes, and database administration. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing scalable PostgreSQL database solutions for enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Database Design and Development
- Design, implement, and optimize complex database schemas for performance and scalability.
- Develop advanced stored procedures, functions, and triggers using PL/pgSQL.
- Write and maintain DDL (Data Definition Language) and DML (Data Manipulation Language) scripts.
2. Performance Optimization
- Analyze and optimize query performance using EXPLAIN, ANALYZE, and execution plans.
- Implement indexing strategies, partitioning, and materialized views to enhance database performance.
- Optimize storage and query performance for large datasets.
3. Data Integration and ETL
- Develop ETL pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading between systems.
- Integrate data from multiple sources using custom SQL scripts and tools like Talend, or Python or Airflow.
4. Data Security and Governance
- Implement data security policies, including encryption, role-based access control, and auditing.
5. Automation and Maintenance
- Automate routine tasks like backups, indexing, and monitoring using cron jobs or scripting tools.
- Perform regular database maintenance, including vacuuming, reindexing, and analyzing tables.
6. Monitoring and Troubleshooting
- Monitor database performance and availability using tools like pgAdmin, pg_stat_activity, and third-party monitoring solutions (e.g., New Relic, Grafana, or Nagios).
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and resolve bottlenecks in real-time.
7. Collaboration
- Work closely with application developers to design efficient database queries and schemas.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior database developers.
