About FD Design
FD Design is a multidisciplinary architecture and interior design practice based in Naraina Vihar, New Delhi.
Established in 2000, the firm works across premium residences, housing, hospitality, commercial developments and interior projects.
We are looking for an interior design professional with practical experience in residential interiors.
The role will involve design development, working drawings, material coordination, vendor interaction and project follow-up. Candidates do not need to be equally experienced in every area, but should have a sound understanding of residential interiors and the willingness to learn, coordinate and take responsibility.
Job Description
The Interior Designer will work with the principals, architects and project team on residential interior projects.
The role will include preparation of interior drawings, furniture and joinery details, material selection, vendor coordination, quotation review, sample follow-up and site coordination, depending on the candidate’s experience and capability.
This is a practical design and coordination role. Candidates whose experience is limited only to 3D visualisation or presentation work may not be suitable.
Key Responsibilities and KRAs
1. Interior Design Development
- Assist in developing interior concepts for residential projects
- Work on furniture layouts, ceiling plans, flooring layouts and wall treatments
- Support the selection of materials, finishes, colours, furniture, lighting and accessories
- Translate approved design ideas into clear drawings and coordinated details
- Participate in internal design reviews and material discussions
2. Working Drawings and Detailing
- Prepare interior working drawings in AutoCAD
- Develop furniture, joinery, ceiling, flooring and wall-detail drawings
- Prepare plans, elevations, sections and basic construction details
- Update drawings based on design discussions and site requirements
- Maintain proper drawing revisions and project records
- Coordinate interior drawings with architectural and service drawings
3. Material and Specification Coordination
- Assist in preparing material, finish and hardware specifications
- Research suitable materials, products and vendors
- Coordinate samples, catalogues and technical information
- Maintain material and sample records
- Follow up on material approvals and pending selections
- Check that selected materials are consistent with the approved design intent
4. Vendor and Contractor Coordination
- Coordinate with furniture vendors, fabricators, contractors and suppliers
- Issue drawings, details and specifications to vendors
- Follow up on quotations, samples, shop drawings and production requirements
- Assist in reviewing vendor quotations and scope
- Check vendor submissions with the project team
- Coordinate between different vendors wherever required
- Track pending vendor information and delivery schedules
5. Site Coordination
- Visit project sites when required
- Review interior execution against approved drawings
- Assist in resolving routine design and coordination issues
- Check dimensions and site conditions before issuing fabrication drawings
- Coordinate revisions required due to site conditions
- Share site observations with the project architect and principals
6. Project Documentation and Follow-up
- Maintain drawing, quotation, sample and decision trackers
- Record pending project information and follow up with the concerned team
- Organise project files, vendor submissions and approval records
- Assist in preparing presentations and material-selection documents
- Ensure that the latest drawings and decisions are properly communicated
Required Experience and Skills
- 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in residential interiors
- Experience in interior working drawings and detailing
- Basic understanding of materials, finishes, furniture, joinery and interior execution
- Some experience in coordinating with vendors, fabricators or contractors
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of SketchUp and presentation software
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to organise drawings, samples and project information
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Willingness to learn and take responsibility
- Ability to work full-time from the FD Design office in Naraina Vihar, New Delhi
- Comfortable undertaking periodic same-day visits to project sites across Delhi NCR and nearby locations

Compensation
₹40,000 to ₹60,000 per month, depending on relevant experience, technical capability, current responsibilities and performance in the selection process.
