Analyst – Catastrophe Modelling

As an Analyst in our Catastrophe Modelling team, you’ll play a key role in helping insurers understand and manage the risks posed by natural disasters. Based in Mumbai, you’ll work with cutting-edge tools and collaborate with global teams to deliver insights that make a real difference. In this role, you’ll use advanced catastrophe models like RMS RiskLink, AIR Touchstone, and CoreLogic RQE to analyse insurance exposures and quantify potential losses from natural disasters. You’ll prepare and clean data, run models, and create detailed reports to help insurers make informed decisions. You’ll also investigate loss drivers, test model sensitivity, and collaborate with onshore analysts to ensure high-quality results.
Your work will involve dynamic projects with shifting timelines and evolving technologies, so you’ll need to adapt quickly and think critically. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor junior analysts, contribute to process improvements, and develop your skills in advanced modelling concepts.

Experience with tools like SQL, Excel, and catastrophe models (e.g., RMS RiskLink, AIR Touchstone).

How you'll make an impact
As an Analyst in the Catastrophe Modelling team, you’ll take on a range of tasks to help insurers understand and manage risks. Your responsibilities will include:

Data Preparation: Clean, prepare, and scrub data for analysis using tools like SQL and Excel.

Risk Analysis: Use catastrophe models (e.g., RMS RiskLink, AIR Touchstone, CoreLogic RQE) to quantify potential losses from natural disasters.

Report Creation: Generate exposure and loss summary reports using internal tools like iFM and Workflow Manager. Visualise data through mapping tools like SpatialKey and ArcGIS.

Model Sensitivity Testing: Analyse how changes in input parameters affect model outputs.

Loss Investigation: Investigate loss drivers and validate loss movements, with occasional support from senior analysts.

Collaboration: Work closely with onshore analysts to discuss progress, seek feedback, and ensure client satisfaction.

Mentorship: Train and mentor junior analysts when needed, and perform reviews of their work.
You’ll also contribute to process improvements, adapt to evolving technologies, and take the initiative to upskill yourself in advanced modelling concepts.
