JOB SUMMARY
A professionally managed knitwear export company in Tiruppur is seeking a highly accomplished Factory Operations Head / COO to assume complete responsibility for end-to-end manufacturing operations.
This is a senior leadership position for a hands-on manufacturing professional who can establish firm operational control, strengthen systems, develop department heads and ensure consistent delivery of quality garments within committed timelines.
The successful candidate will have direct authority and accountability across production planning, industrial engineering, cutting, sewing, finishing, quality, maintenance, manpower utilisation and final shipment readiness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take complete ownership of manufacturing operations from production planning through final shipment Convert order requirements into practical capacity, line-loading and delivery plans Ensure daily, weekly and monthly production targets are achieved Establish strong PPC, IE, WIP-control and production-monitoring systems Control cutting, sewing, finishing, quality, maintenance and production-support functions Identify shipment risks sufficiently in advance and implement recovery plans Improve line efficiency, productivity, right-first-time quality and cost per garment Reduce alterations, rejections, excess overtime, bottlenecks and avoidable production losses Build accountability among factory managers, department heads and production teams Coordinate effectively with merchandising, fabric, sourcing, quality and commercial teams Manage multiple styles, smaller order quantities and value-added garments Ensure compliance with buyer standards, factory procedures and statutory requirements Provide management with accurate, fact-based reporting rather than general status updates Reduce promoter dependency in routine factory operations
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 18 years of experience in apparel manufacturing, including at least 5 years in a Factory Head, General Manager, Vice President Operations, Manufacturing Head or comparable leadership position Strong experience in export-oriented knitted garment manufacturing Demonstrated responsibility for complete cut-to-pack or cut-to-ship operations Experience managing multiple production lines and department heads Strong command of production planning, industrial engineering, line balancing, SMV, efficiency, WIP and quality systems Experience with premium, fashion, embellished or value-added knitwear will be preferred Exposure to international buyers and third-party quality/compliance requirements Demonstrable record of improving delivery, productivity, quality and factory discipline Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving ability Must be willing to relocate to and work full-time in Tiruppur Candidates from India, Sri Lanka or other established apparel-manufacturing countries may apply
COMPENSATION
Senior leadership compensation, fully negotiable for an exceptional candidate. Relocation and accommodation support may be considered based on the candidate’s profile.
