Assistant Professor – Clinical Psychology

Guru Nanak College, Dehradun invites applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology. The selected candidate will teach undergraduate students enrolled in programmes such as BPT, Nursing, GNM, and other Allied Health Sciences courses.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Clinical Psychology courses using effective, student-centred teaching methodologies.
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and case-based learning in accordance with the university curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, and assessments.
- Evaluate student performance through internal and university examinations.
- Mentor students and support their academic and professional development.
- Facilitate practical training in psychological assessment, counselling skills, and behavioural interventions, where applicable.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental activities, research, faculty development programmes, seminars, and workshops.
- Support accreditation, regulatory compliance, and other academic or administrative responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department or Principal.
Essential Qualifications
- M.A./M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology from a recognized university.
- Preference will be given to candidates with an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology (RCI-recognized), Psy.D., or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a related discipline.
- Candidates should satisfy the eligibility criteria prescribed by the relevant statutory and regulatory authorities, including the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) wherever applicable.
Preferred Skills
- Sound knowledge of psychopathology, psychological assessment, counselling, psychotherapy, and mental health interventions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use modern teaching methodologies, digital learning tools, and outcome-based education.
- Interest in research, publications, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Experience
- Prior teaching experience in a psychology, in any institution is desirable.
- Clinical experience in a hospital, rehabilitation centre, mental health facility, or counselling setting will be an added advantage.
- Fresh candidates with strong academic credentials and teaching aptitude may also apply.
