Our Systems team at Arise is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who will report into the Director, Data, AI and Engineering and will help develop and implement controls and processes to better manage the systems across Arise and will be a key member of AWS Cloud Migration initiative. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, able to drive tasks to completion independently, and able to learn new skills on the job as project requirements expand. Our team’s mission is to envision, build and deploy the next generation of Cloud platform for data ingestion, processing, storage, and analysis at scale. What you will take on (Core Competencies):
1. Cloud Architecture & Multi‑Cloud Engineering
The Senior DevOps Engineer must be able to design, implement, and operate complex cloud architectures across both AWS and Azure. This includes:
- Architecting high‑availability, fault‑tolerant, and scalable systems using native cloud services
- Designing multi‑region and multi‑AZ architectures for mission‑critical workloads
- Implementing network segmentation , VPC/VNet peering, private endpoints, and secure connectivity patterns
- Managing identity and access using AWS IAM , Azure AD , and enterprise RBAC models
- Implementing cost‑optimized architectures and continuously monitoring cloud spend
- Leading cloud migration initiatives, including application modernization and re‑platforming
This role requires the ability to evaluate tradeoffs , propose cloud-native solutions, and guide engineering teams toward best practices.
2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Environment Automation
The engineer must be able to fully automate infrastructure provisioning using modern IaC frameworks:
- Expert-level proficiency with Terraform for multi-cloud deployments
- Ability to write reusable modules, enforce standards, and manage state securely
- Experience with CloudFormation (AWS) and ARM/Bicep (Azure) for cloud-native deployments
- Implementing GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or FluxCD
- Designing automated environment creation for dev, test, staging, and production
The engineer should be capable of turning manual processes into fully automated pipelines with version-controlled infrastructure.
3. CI/CD Pipeline Engineering & Release Automation
This role requires ownership of the entire software delivery pipeline , including:
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab
- Implementing automated build, test, security scanning, and deployment workflows
- Managing artifact repositories (Artifactory, Nexus, GitHub Packages)
- Supporting multiple deployment strategies:
- Blue/green
- Canary
- Rolling updates
- Integrating automated quality gates, compliance checks, and approval workflows
The engineer must ensure deployments are repeatable, traceable, and zero‑downtime .
4. Containerization & Kubernetes Platform Management
The Senior DevOps Engineer must be able to build, secure, and operate container platforms :
- Designing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters in EKS and AKS
- Managing cluster upgrades, node pools, autoscaling, and workload isolation
- Building secure Docker images and implementing image scanning
- Managing Helm charts, Kustomize, and Kubernetes manifests
- Implementing service mesh (Istio, Linkerd) and ingress controllers
- Troubleshooting cluster networking, DNS, and service discovery
This role requires deep understanding of distributed systems , container orchestration, and cloud-native application patterns.
5. Monitoring, Logging, Observability & Performance Engineering
The engineer must build and maintain end‑to‑end observability across cloud environments:
- Implementing monitoring using CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana
- Designing log aggregation pipelines using ELK/EFK stacks
- Implementing distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, or Zipkin
- Creating actionable dashboards, alerts, and SLO/SLI metrics
- Performing root-cause analysis and post‑incident reviews
The engineer must ensure systems are measurable, observable, and proactively monitored .
6. Security Engineering, Compliance & Governance
This role requires strong security expertise, including:
- Designing secure cloud architectures aligned with CIS, NIST, SOC2, or ISO 27001
- Implementing secrets management using AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, or Vault
- Enforcing least privilege, MFA, and identity federation
- Implementing network security controls, WAF, firewalls, and zero-trust principles
- Automating security scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance reporting
- Using policy-as-code tools (OPA, Azure Policy, AWS SCPs)
The engineer must partner with security teams to ensure continuous compliance and hardened cloud environments .
7. Scripting, Automation & Tooling Development
The engineer must be able to automate everything possible , including:
- Writing automation scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell
- Building internal tools to streamline operations
- Automating configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Creating reusable automation frameworks for cloud provisioning and deployments
This role requires a mindset of efficiency, repeatability, and eliminating manual work .
8. Networking & Cloud Connectivity
The engineer must have strong networking fundamentals:
- Understanding of DNS, routing, load balancing, and TCP/IP
- Experience with cloud load balancers (ALB/NLB, Azure Load Balancer, Application Gateway)
- Implementing VPNs, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute
- Designing secure hybrid cloud connectivity
This role requires the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple layers.
9. Reliability Engineering & Operational Excellence
The engineer must ensure systems are resilient, stable, and recoverable :
- Designing backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
- Implementing autoscaling, self‑healing, and failover mechanisms
- Leading incident response and on‑call rotations
- Performing capacity planning and performance tuning
- Creating runbooks, playbooks, and operational documentation
This role requires a strong focus on uptime, reliability, and operational maturity .
10. Leadership, Collaboration & Communication
A Senior DevOps Engineer must be able to:
- Lead technical discussions and influence architectural decisions
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
- Collaborate with development, QA, product, and security teams
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
- Drive DevOps culture, automation mindset, and continuous improvement
This role requires someone who can lead by example and elevate the entire engineering organization.

Our new team member will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
- Knowledge to cloud computing concepts and design consideration
- Three years of experience in BASH, python scripting etc.
- 10 years of experience Python and Terraform
- Certification in AWS and Azure
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, creative thinking and design skills
