We are hiring a Denial Management Specialist to help us reduce AR, resolve denials, and accelerate cash collections.
Role Overview
You will own denial resolution and accounts receivable (AR) across US insurance claims.
This is not a basic billing role.
You should be comfortable:
- Investigating denials deeply
- Working payer portals and call centers
- Identifying root causes and patterns
- Driving collections independently
Your work will directly impact revenue and cash flow.
What You’ll Do
- Review and resolve denied / underpaid claims (CPT 90834, 90837, etc.)
- Work AR follow-ups via payer portals and outbound calls
- Identify denial reasons (eligibility, authorization, coding, payer issues)
- Submit corrected claims and appeals
- Track and escalate underpayments and recoupments
- Maintain documentation of actions and outcomes
- Collaborate with internal ops team to reduce recurring issues
What We’re Looking For
Must-have:
- 2+ years in US medical billing (AR / denial management)
- Experience with major payers (Optum, BCBS, Aetna, Cigna)
- Strong understanding of:
- CPT codes (especially behavioral health)
- EOB / ERA interpretation
- Claim lifecycle
- Experience using billing platforms (e.g., ClaimMD, Kareo, AdvancedMD, etc.)
- Ability to make payer calls and follow through until resolution
- Strong attention to detail and ownership mindset
Nice-to-have
- Behavioral health billing experience
- Experience handling recoupments and reprocessing
- Familiarity with US time zones and payer workflows
- Excel / reporting skills
